Assoc. Prof. Ross Sharpe

Interventional Cardiologist

Dr Ross Sharpe is a Physician, Interventional Cardiologist and Endovascular Specialist with a large Structural and Congenital Heart Disease practice in New South Wales and Queensland.

He is the Founder of Heartbrain Private Clinic and the Founder and President of the PFO Research Foundation Australia.

Dr Sharpe has performed over 1,000 Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closures and supervises the work of other cardiologists performing the procedures.

Dr Sharpe has a research interest in PFO and its link to migraine and other disease processes such as stroke, cognitive decline, and inflammatory disorders. He presents regularly in Australia and has also presented his research on PFO closure for the cure of migraine with aura internationally.

Dr Sharpe is highly experienced in all aspects of cardiac and vascular arterial stenting and advanced interventions. He works closely with a team of specialist neurologists to tailor assessment and treatment for each patient.

​In addition to Heartbrain Private Clinic, Dr Sharpe provides the full suite of cardiology services through his private practices Sharpe Cardiology and Coastal Hearts and Endovascular.

​He also volunteers his time to visit patients in remote Queensland and offers a cardiology and echo service through his practice Country Echo.

Dan Traves

Sonographer

Dan has been providing specialist vascular and cardiac sonography and ultrasound services since 2007 on the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales. His special areas of interests are in stroke assessment and arterial disease.

He has presented at Australasian and International Stroke and Ultrasound conferences.

Dan is also an experienced registered nurse having worked in intensive and critical care units in Australia and England as well as cardiac catheter laboratories.

When not working he enjoys spending time with his young family and mountain biking.
